Thank you my dear. You have always encouraged all of us every time but this time it feels better when you talk about Ranbir: Shabana
The Hush Post: Was the film Sanju conceived as far back as 25 years ago? Looks like if this poster held by these four superstars is anything to go by.
Ranbir Kapoor’s father Rishi Kapoor dug out a picture, a very old one of four superstars holding the placard Sanju, even when the film wasn’t conceived…way back in 1994.
In a unique way to promote the film, Rishi came up with an old photograph featuring Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar. In the picture, three out of the four of them can be seen posing with posters bearing Sanjay Dutt’s photo which read: “Sanju, we’re with you.”
The blast from the past appears to be from when Sanju was arrested under TADA in 1993 in connection with the Bombay blasts.
Rishi Kapoor added a twist to the caption of the photo and wrote: “Thank you!” These people been promoting the film ever since!”
After Sanjay Dutt’s arrest for the first time, he was out on bail in October 1995 but was again sent to jail in December the same year. He stepped out on bail again in April 1997, nine years after which the case came to court.
Sanjay Dutt spent 18 months in jail during the trial and he was finally convicted for the illegal possession of weapons by the Supreme Court in 2013 when he was sentenced to five years in prison.
Sanjay Dutt walked out a free man after serving a five-year jail sentence in 2016.
Details of Sanjay Dutt’s jail-term were included in this biopic Sanju – glimpses of which are there in plenty in the trailer.
Rishi Kapoor also thanked Shabana Azmi, who recently watched Sanju, for a good review of Ranbir as an actor:
Some of the first ones to encourage Ranbir for a blockbuster performance was Shabana Azmi. She wrote, “Thank you my dear. You have always encouraged all of us every time but this time it feels better when you talk about Ranbir. I haven’t seen the film as yet -will, as soon as I am back.
Meanwhile, Rishi is impressed watching his son bring alive the controversial life of the superstar on screen. After watching the trailer, he said: “Rajkumar Hirani has presented Ranbir as the biggest superb thing. The boy has really done well. I am so proud of him. I swear on Neetu and Ranbir, I did not think it was Ranbir, I thought it was Sanjay Dutt.”
