Shahrukh Khan’s Alibaug property.

The Hush Post:  The Income Tax department termed superstar Shahrukh Khan’s bungalow in Alibaug as bename and has temporarily attached it. Now SRK needs to respond within 90 days before the appropriate authority failing which it will be confiscated. Apart from Shahrukh’s bungalow, 87 more properties have been served a notice in Alibaug for violations of various kinds.

The attachment notice was issued in December 2017 to Deja Vu Farms under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act. Namita Chhiba, Ramesh Chhiba and Savita Chhiba are named as its directors, who happen to be Shahrukh Khan’s father-in-law, mother-in-law and one of them is SRK’s wife Gauri Khan’s relative. One Moreshwar Ajgaonkar, a director of Deja Vu Farms, is mentioned as property owner. The farmhouse covers more than 19,000 sq metres and has a swimming pool and a chopper landing facilities.
The purported piece of land in Thal, Alibaug where this ‘benami property’ exists was agricultural land meant for farming. Ajgaonkar, the benami owner claimed he was an agriculturist. The land was transferred in the company’s name with the condition that it will be used for farming within three years. In 2011, Namita Chhiba was appointed director of Deja Vu in place of Ajgaonkar. However, after three years also, the Alibaug revenue office found a swimming pool developed on the plot without permission and served a notice for violation of CRZ rules.
