Bhasha Mukherjee, a model and former Miss England, had decided to return to work as a doctor amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 24-year-old Kolkata-born woman who was crowned Miss England in August 2019 has decided to put a pause on her charity work. She will return to her home country, England, serve as a doctor. Bhasha had travelled to India in March.
After completing two bachelor medial degrees, Bhasha tried her luck in modeling. She went on to win the crown and then took a break from medical career.
But as coronavirus crisis has gripped the world, Bhasha had again decided to join back her profession. She will be taking up her medical after her 14 days self-isolation.
“When you are doing all this humanitarian work abroad, you’re still expected to put the crown on, get ready… look pretty. I wanted to come back home. I wanted to come and go straight to work. I really wanted to join the task force right away,” she told CNN.
Bhasha holds a degree in medical sciences and one in medicine and surgery from the University of Nottingham. Before the Miss England pageant, she was a junior doctor specialising in respiratory medicine.
Bhasha will join Pilgrim Hospital in Boston once she completes the self-isolation period. UK has recorded more than 50,000 coronavirus cases so far.
