Goa airport shut for few hours after fuel tank of figher jet catches fire on runway

The airport at Goa, India’s most popular tourist hub, was closed temporarily on Saturday afternoon.
Flying operations were suspended after the fuel tank of figher jet MiG 29K got detached while taking off and caught fire on the runway.

Vistara airlines tweeted that two of its flights have been delayed- one to Delhi and another to Mumbai. Both flights will take off post 5pm this evening.
Captain D K Sharma, the spokesperson of the Indian Navy, tweeted about flight operations being resumed after around an hour at the airport.
The incident took place at around 2 pm today. The MiG 29K fighter jet and its pilot are safe.
The Goa airport uses the runaway of the Naval Air Station INS Hansa, the home base of MiG 29K fighter jets.
