A woman Congress worker in Goa has alleged that supporters of a BJP leader have threatened her with gangrape if she campaigned against him.
Diya Shetkar is the Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress state secretary. In a complaint to the police, she said she received a call on Sunday morning. The person claimed to be a supporter of BJP leader Subhash Shirodkar. The unidentified caller also allegedly used “abusive and vulgar language”.
“To harass a woman, Shirodkar’s supporters have stooped so low to threaten me of gangrape,” she reportedly told ANI.
Shetkar said she was told not to enter Shirodkar’s constituency. A complaint is lodged against an unknown person in the matter. In October, Shirodkar had joined the BJP after stepping down as the Congress legislator. He was an MLA from Siroda in Goa Legislative Assembly. Shirodkar has remained mum on the allegations against his supporters.
