The Hush Post: A woman in Ahmedabad has accused her husband of forcibly selling her eggs. The 26-year-old woman has filed a complaint at the Sarkhej police station in Ahmedabad. The woman, a mother of two, has alleged that her husband, Afzal Khan Pathan, took her to fertility centres in Udaipur, Ajmer and Vadodra to sell her eggs.
According to reports, the woman resides in Vejalpur and was born and brought up in Muscat, Oman. She initially came to Mumbai in 2010 and then the family moved to Ahmedabad where she got married to Afzal. Since Afzal was jobless at the time of marriage, the woman started taking financial assistance from her mother. She later brought him an autorickshaw but he stopped driving it too, said the woman in her complaint.
When the woman’s mother died in 2016, the man started borrowing money from his friends. The debts started piling up and to pay them off he started forcing his wife to sell eggs on the advice of his friend. Her eggs were sold on various occasions between 2016 and July 2018 and she was even beaten up when she objected to it, the complaint stated.
She also accused her husband of fraudulently getting divorce papers signed saying that the papers were in Gujrati. According to the woman she even raised the matter with her in-laws but they allegedly harassed her.
The Sarkhej police have filed a case of domestic violence against Afzal and his family and they are yet to be arrested.
