In a shocking incident, an 80-year-old elderly woman was killed after unidentified robbers chopped off her legs to steal her silver ‘kadas‘ (anklets). The incident occurred in the area of Kanalava in Gujarat’s Chhota Udepur on Sunday.
According to police officials, the elderly woman was sleeping alone in her house. When robbers came they couldn’t find anything so they dragged the victim to the nearby field. The robbers first slit her throat, then axed both of her legs to rob off her silver anklets. Meanwhile, a case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
However, the crime came to light when villagers found her body in a farm near her house. The villagers found both the legs of the victim above her ankles were hacked and her silver anklets which were worth Rs 20,000 were missing. Later, the villagers filed a police complaint. Police Station In-charge of Panvad, MK Gosai said, “We have started investigation with the help of Forensic Scientific Lab (FSL) team and the dog squad. We will find the robbers soon.”
