Two women from Gujarat walked 53 kilometers backward for 13 hours in an attempt to make a new Guinness record. The sisters-in-law, Twinkle Thakar and Swati Thakar started their run from Bardoli district of Gujarat at 5 pm on Tuesday and finished it the next day at 9 pm in Dandi. The video footage of the attempt has been sent to the authorities of Guinness records.
The women reportedly said that they were inspired by Narendra Modi’s message on women empowerment. Also, they wanted other women to come forward and showcase their skills.
Twinkle Thakar reportedly said, “Initially, we weren’t confident about completing the task. But our family members motivated us. Our aim was to motivate women to come forward and showcase their skills. Every woman has some qualities, they just need someone’s support to come forward.”
“Our Prime Minister is running programs on woman empowerment. This task was in line with these programs. Every woman is special, they just need to come forward and show their skills to people,” said Swati Thakar.
On his monthly radio program “Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged the country to honour and felicitate the daughter of the country through social media campaign ‘BharatKiLaxmi’.
Also, he urged the people to share the achievements of their daughters and daughter-in-laws on social media with the hashtag #BharatKiLaxmi.
