In Gujarat’s Vadodara, a 30-year-old farmer woke up in the morning to find a crocodile under his cot, staring at him with its’ gleaming eyes. It was literally a nightmare for him when he saw the mammoth resting right beneath the bed.
The farmer’s — Babubhai Parmar — kutcha house is located just 500 metres away from Malataj lake in Sujitra taluka of Anand district. Like any usual night, on Sunday night too, he tied up his mosquito net on his cot and slept. Aroungd 1:30 am, on Monday morning, Parmar was woken up by barks of street dogs. Half awake Parmar looked through the gaps of his cot and found that a crocodile had sneaked into his house and resting just beneath his charpai.
However, Babubhai Parmar somehow managed to go out and call his neighbours to help. The locals said that it was an eight-feet-long female crocodile and she was pregnant.
Forest department and wildlife volunteers have rescued the female mammoth safely.
Malataj, located nearly 20 km away from Anand is a home to a healthy breeding population of the reptiles in the Charotar belt. According to a local, there are roughly 100 to 150 crocodiles in the Malataj lake.
