The Hush Post: Wanted to donate kidney to his ailing brother, a second-year engineering student kills himself. But his sacrifice went futile.
His body had already started decomposing when it was found hanging in his hostel room in the wee hours of Saturday. 19-year-old Naitikkumar Tandel, a native of Pardi in Valsad and studying in Babaria Institute of Technology at Varnama, was found hanging to a fan in the hostel room by his roommate, who then informed the police and the authorities of the institute.
On inspection of his room, the police found a suicide note where Tandel had asked police not to investigate his death and question anyone, especially his parents.
Tandel further wrote that his kidneys should be donated to his elder brother 24-year-old Kenish, whose both kidneys were dysfunctional and was on dialysis for the past couple of years. “He (Tandel) also wrote in the note that his other organs should also be donated to needy persons,” a police official said.
But since his body had started decomposing, his organs could not be harvested for cadaver donation. Doctors at SSG Hospital after examining the body said that Tandel had died a day-and-a-half before his body was found.
According to police, Tandel had reached the institute on June 20 as the classes for third semester were to begin a week later. He had written an email to inform his roommate that he had arrived.
Tandel’s parents told the cops that when his mother last talked to him on June 20 evening there were hardly any signs of depression or any kind of discomfort.
