Manish and Pankaj were arrested from Manish’s sister’s house in Satnali and had been roaming in Rajasthan and Haryana, posing as beggars & farmers
The Hush Post: Main accused in the Rewari gangrape case, Manish and Pankaj, who were absconding since the last 11 days even tried to hide their identity by posing as beggars. The two were nabbed by the Special Investigative Team (SIT) Sunday morning from Satnali in Mahendragarh district in Haryana.
The third main accused named in the FIR, Nishu was arrested on September 16. He is a neighbour of the victim and is said to have masterminded the whole crime. Pankaj was known to the victim.
Amar Ujala reported that Manish and Pankaj were arrested from Manish’s sister’s house in Satnali and had been roaming in Rajasthan and Haryana, posing as beggars and farmers.
According to the police, the Pankaj, the army jawan, and Manish were on the run during the last 11 days and had regularly changed places. SIT head Nazneen Bhasin informed that the two had buried their phones and had taken help of petty criminals who helped them move places. “Since they had no money the put up in Dhanis (hamlets) and Dharamshalas and sometimes even slept in the fields”. She refused to divulge further.
Bhasin said that the case would be taken up in a fast track court so that the culprits are brought to book.
The nineteen-year-old college girl from Rewari was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by a group of men in Mahendragarh’s Kanina. Nishu, Pankaj and Manish were named in the FIR while two others were also arrested in the case.
