The gunman Mahipal Singh,32, who shot at the wife and son of Additional Sessions Judge, Krishan Kant Sharma, has been arrested from Ghaziabad.
“I have shot your son and wife,” the accused gunman Mahipal had told the Judge Krishan Kant immediately after fleeing from the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP East) Sulochna Gajraj told mediapersons that the accused made three calls after fleeing from the scene of the crime. Out of these, one was to his employer of two years. He then reached a police station where he fired in the air. He fled before the station house officer (SHO) could nab him.
The police are questioning the gunman. He is said to be suffering from depression. The reason for the shooting is not known as yet. He had been serving as the officer’s personal security guard for the last one and a half year.
The judge’s wife who got injured in the chest is said to be out of danger but the son’s condition is said to be critical.
The incident had taken place around 3:30 pm near Arcadia Market in Sector 49, Gurugram on Saturday.
The gunman first shot the wife and then the son, in front of several onlookers. He tried to drag the judge’s son in the car. When he could not, he left the judge’s son and wife lying on the road and drove away in the same car that they had come to the market.
