The Hush Post: Seven men allegedly tried to rape an IT executive in Gurugram. The incident took place on Thursday night. The police arrested the five accused while two others are still at large.
Five accused have been identified as Ankit, Sawan, Mukesh, Sachin, Abhishek have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. While the other two – Hemant and Kamal Nandi – are yet to be arrested by the police.
The incident has brought back the memory of the Nirbhaya gangrape case.
The men, reportedly, tried to assault the 21-year-old at 9.50 PM on September 20. At that time, the girl who lives on the second floor of the building was climbing stairs.
The police was informed about the incident by the family of the girl who confronted the accused after the girl narrated the ordeal.
In her complaint to the police, the girl stated that the accused even tried to attack her family when they intervened. She claimed that while climbing the stairs, one of the seven accused waylaid her and attempted to rape her.
An FIR has been lodged against the accused at Kherki Daula police station under sections 354-A (sexual assault), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insult of modesty) and 376-511 (rape attempt), as per a report.
