Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar travelled by Shatabdi Express from Chandigarh to Karnal to cast his vote on Sunday, May 12. He tweeted, “Departing from Chandigarh to Karnal for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections today.”
“I am excited about the vote and all of you should go to your respective polling booth with full enthusiasm and ensure your participation”, he said.
All the 10 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana went to the polls on the day with tight security in this phase of General Elections. The three dominating parties in Haryana are BJP, Congress and Om Prakash Chautala’s Indian National Lok Dal. According to the political experts, it might come as a double whammy this time for BJP.
Firstly, BJP is facing anti-incumbency at the fag end of its tenure. Secondly, the Jat quota remains a major issue in the elections as the caste equation has played a major role in the elections.
The Jats holds a 30 per cent share in the state’s population. They blame the BJP government for not defending their demand for 10 percent quota in jobs strongly in the Supreme Court.
