4-year-old boy crushed to death by reversing car in Panchkula, 5-yr-old injured

The Hush Post: A four-year-old boy was crushed to death after a car ran over him while reversing it in Sector 11, Panchkula, on Monday evening.

Police said the victim identified as four-year-old Aman was playing with his friend five-year-old friend Aashmin in the parking area near Geeta Mandir when the accident happened around 7:00 pm.

Inspector Arvind Kumar, Sector-5 Station House Officer, said: “The car, which was in reverse gear, hit both Aman and Aashmin. It fled following the incident.”

A neighbour rushed the victims to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6, from where they were referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. While the doctors declared Aman brought dead, the girl was still undergoing treatment. Both victims sustained severe injuries on the head and stomach.

Police said Aman’s father, Rajneesh Kumar, and Aashmin’s father, Ishaan, are both daily wagers. The families are from Uttar Pradesh and live in slums near the Geeta Mandir in Sector 11.

“We are looking for footage from nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in order to trace the vehicle. A case has been registered under Sections 304 A (causing death by negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code,” said SHO Arvind Kumar.
