Victim’s husband arrested in Morni gangrape, to be produced shortly in court

The Hush Post: In a big and shocking development, the husband of the Morni gang-rape victim has now been arrested by the police.

He will shortly be produced in the court. Police have found some call recordings which raise an eye of suspicion on the husband of the victim. An important question which probably the victim’s husband could not answer was that why he did not report the matter to the police when the victim did not return home for three days. Notably, the victim’s husband himself dropped her at the Lovely Guest House.

Earlier, it had come to light that not only was the victim gang-raped but many other women were also being exploited at the guest house.

The special investigation team (SIT), which is investigating the gangrape case, has examined around 70 calls made by the main accused, Sunny, who was operating Lovely Guest House in Morni, between July 15 and July 18.

Earlier, the victim’s husband revealed that apart from his wife, there were other women at Lovely Guest House as well. He said his wife told him that there were three more women for sure during the period when she was kept at the guest house. However, the whole affair has turned on its head after this latest development.

The police have also scrutinised the pictures sent or received on WhatsApp, probably of the victim and other women, which were sent by Sunny to other people to call them to the guest house.

The SIT had on Monday produced the main accused, Sunny, and the manager of the guest house, Avtar before a Panchkula court after getting their production warrants. The accused were sent to three-day police custody.

Besides, six more accused — Karan Sharma, Sukhwinder Singh, Vikash, alias Vicky, Manjit Singh, Shadi Ram and Ajay Kumar — all residents of Ambala district, were also produced in the court and sent to two-day police remand.
