The Rohtak and Hisar Parliamentary seats were finally announced by BJP on Sunday. A senior BJP Minister Birender Singh also a Union Steel Minister said, “The party is fielding Arvind Sharma from Rohtak and Brijender Singh from Hisar, also an IAS officer of the Assam cadre 1998 batch. BJP has also announced names of four candidates from Madhya Pradesh.
Birender Singh further said that he wanted to retire from active politics and offered his resignation from Rajya Sabha. He said, he has already written to BJP National President Amit Shah. He cited his desire to avoid “dynastic politics”—because his son was now a BJP nominee—and this as a reason for retirement from his more than four-decade-old political career.
He further said, “My son joined politics because my family is in politics since the first time the country voted,” he said.
When asked if he was setting an example for other leaders to follow suit, he said: “Every politician needs to follow certain ideology. What I feel is that it is a message to those because of which parivarvad (dynasty) politics has been criticised”.
The party had announced eight nominees for Haryana’s 10 Parliamentary seats last week.
Bharatiya Janata Party announced its nominees for Rohtak and Hisar Parliamentary seats on Sunday.
The party is fielding Arvind Sharma from Rohtak and Brijendera Singh from Hisar, senior BJP leader Birender Singh said. The BJP also announced names of four candidates from Madhya Pradesh.
