The Hush Post: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Friday.  Jaitley is scheduled to undergo a kidney operation on Saturday.

The 65 year old Minister has been suffering from an undisclosed kidney problem, and had skipped office on Monday. He could not take oath of office after being re-elected to the Rajya Sabha, due to his illness.

A kidney transplant operation is scheduled for the Finance Minister and all formalities for a donor kidney have been completed.

Announcing his illness on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, the Minister tweeted “I am being treated for kidney related problems & certain infections that I have contracted.”

Jaitley also cancelled his visit to the United Kingdom, where he was scheduled to participate in the 10th India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue. The Dialogue is being organised next week.

Jaitley also said that he was “currently working from controlled environment at home. The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me.”

The operation likely be conducted by nephrologist Dr Sandeep Guleria from Apollo hospital. Guleria is the brother of AIIMS Director, Randeep Guleria. Randeep Guleria is a family friend of Jaitley.

This is not the first time that Jaitley is undergoing an operation. In September 2014, he underwent a bariatric surgery in order to treat weight gain suffered on account of a long-standing diabetic condition. Operated at Max Hospital, Mr. Jaitley had to be shifted to AIIMS later due to complications. He also underwent a heart surgery several years ago.
