Whatever one eats, it directly or indirectly affects one’s health and body. The food we eat become a reason for several diseases, minor or major.

The most dreadful question people ask is what causes cancer. Today we’ll list out the food items that cause cancer to human beings.

EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL

Acetaldehyde is a chemical compound which is produced when the body metabolizes alcohol. Further, it may lead to cancer. Experts suggest avoiding alcohol on a regular basis or just limiting the servings might also lead to less risk of cancer.

RED MEAT

Eating meat in dishes like burgers may increase the risk of certain types of cancer. If you eat red meat not on a regular basis, it is completely fine but excess of it may cause colon and prostate cancer.

SMOKED FOOD

Smoked food can cause stomach cancer because of the high levels of nitrates. This is a habit practised in most of South-Indian region. They mostly eat smoked and dry fish. In Punjab, the roasted meals could also increase the risk.

FATS

Fats cause several dangerous types of cancers in both males and females. Consumption of food with more fats may cause breast cancer in females as the hormones are increased inside their bodies. Also, it causes prostatic cancer in male, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and colonic cancer.

FOODS THAT PREVENT CANCER

HIGH FIBRE CONTENT

The content is present in whole wheat; almonds & others dry fruits as well. Foods that are high in fibre prevents cancer to spread in our bodies. So, one should consume more food containing fibre.

VEGETABLE AND FRUITS

The simplest way to escape cancer-like diseases is to consume as many types of vegetables and fruits as one can. They contain nutrients that benefit our body. These fight with the bacteria and protect our bodies.

MILK HIGH CALCIUM CONTENT

Calcium is beneficial to strengthen our bones but they also protect our bodies from cancer. According to a study by the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study II Nutrition Cohort, suggests that the people with more evidence of calcium intake had lesser risks of colorectal cancer. The same was not present for the ones who had less calcium intake.

BALANCED DIET

As we have been told throughout our lives that excess to anything is bad. Therefore, one should have an equivalent diet intake.

OMEGA FATTY ACID DIET

Some experts believe that Omega 3 fatty acids reduce inflammation in the body. And the variety of cancer is linked to chronic inflammation. (Stated by Sarah Rafat RD, a senior dietician at MD Anderson Cancer Centre)

HIGH USE OF YELLOW FRUITS CONTAINS VITAMIN- E

These food products are preventive as Body Mass Index is normalised and the risk of obesity is decreased. Second, it has a good impact on intestinal health.

CURD AND DRY FRUITS

It is now proven that Curd and dry fruits prevent reoccurrence of colonic cancer.

 

Modern habits that you need to discontinue

  • Use of preservatives

  • Defined sugar and carbohydrates
