A high alert has been issued in seven states after the Indian intelligence agencies gave warning of Pulwama like attack by Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) after the abolition of Article 370 on Wednesday.

The states are Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka where JeM is most likely to carry out its nefarious plans.

As per reports, Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is associated with the terrorist outfit to carry out the attacks. A major terror act is being aimed at Army, police and other law enforcement personnel.

However, to avoid these terror incidents, the government has already issued an alert asking states to tighten the security at all major airports across the country ahead of the August 15 Independence Day celebrations.

The airport operator, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), posted on Twitter: “Attention Flyers: Due to enhanced security arrangements, flyers are requested to reach #DelhiAirport minimum 3 hours in advance for all domestic flights and 4 hours in advance for all international flights.” The operator also said entry to the meet and greet area will be barred from August 10 to August 20.

India abrogated Article 370 which accorded a special status to Jammu and Kashmir after a resolution regarding the same was passed in both houses of the Parliament.  The Centre also passed the Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganisation) Bill 2019 which divided the state into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir (with a legislature) and Ladakh (without legislature).
