Over eight persons have lost their lives following heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh for the last two days.
A grandfather (88) – grand daughter (8) duo also lost their life in Chamba district after the wall of their house collapsed due to the heavy rain.
In Shimla, two teenaged girls lost their lives in a landslide near the RTO office, while their father was pulled out from the debris. The mother has not been traced yet under the debris.
In another incident, a labourer died when a wall collapsed at Lower Cymmetery in Sanjauli area. Police said a group of daily wagers were sleeping when a retaining wall collapsed on them in their room. They were immediately taken to the IGMC, where one of them was declared brought dead.
One person lost his life at Jhibi in Banjar in Kullu district while he was preparing tea in a tourist hut . A balley bridge near Kullu town was washed away due to flashflood.
A truck driver from Punjab too lost his life on Saturday night after he was stranded on the Swarghat-Bilaspur road. On Sunday morning, the locals noticed the body in the debris. In a similar case, the driver of a tipper lost his life at Hatkoti in Rohru after debris fell on the tipper.
Two persons are also reported to have died at Halnidgar in Kumarsain.
In Sirmaur district, nehhra khud in Shillai area washed away 2-3 buildings due to the heavy flow of water.
