The Hush Post: When a chauffeur-driven Mercedes arrived in Tapovan and a chauffeur dressed in white doning a cap opened the door for his master, all eyes questioningly guessed who would walk out of the ultra luxury car. Then appeared the star attraction multi-millionaire businessman Prakash Rana with visitors at the Assembly constantly hovering around him and gazing at him endlessly.
Rana is a first-time MLA from Jogindernagar who won the election as an Independent defeating a heavyweight BJP candidate and former minister Thakur Gulab Singh.
When contacted by mediapersons, Rana said he was feeling proud to enter the Vidhan Sabha as an office-bearer representing his home constituency and his people. Getting nostalgic, he said that he had fulfilled the dream of his father. “I will not keep any salary or remunerations paid to me from the Vidhan Sabha and distribute it among the residents of the constituency. I would spend my all salary for the welfare of the people,” he said.
He said that he would first learn the procedure and working of the government system and then decide whether the system acts as a booster for his ambition to work for his people. He said that it was not the first time he was working for the people, he had only been able to win the election because of his work for the past many years. He further said that his son Rahul had taken over his business in Saudi Arabia and he was now free to work in the constituency.
Replete with a luxurious living in Saudi Arabia, close to 700 Indians work in his diamond company, including 80 people of his area. His royal life can be judged from the fact that he has got a helipad built outside the house. He flies from Delhi to his home in his private jet. A resident of Golwan village in Jogindranagar, Rana went to Saudi Arabia in the year 1985.
