The Hush Post: A newly-recruited jawan in the Sikh regiment posted at McLeodganj in Dharamshala Cantt, shot himself dead after shooting two of his seniors. The incident occurred at McLeodganj in Dharamsala on early Monday morning.
The jawan Jasbir Singh was recruited in the Army about a one-and-a-half year ago.
21-year-old Jasbir Singh was a resident of Barnala in Punjab. He was posted with 18th Sikh Regiment.
Before killing self, he shot dead Havaldar Hardeep Singh (43) and Nayak Harpal Singh (35). While Hardeep Singh hailed from Tarn Taran, Harpal Singh was a resident of Gurdaspur.
All three were posted in 18th Sikh Regiment in McLeodganj in Dharamshala.
The reason for the shoot-out is not known yet. Ten rounds of fire were shot according to the police. The Army has initiated an internal probe.
Kangra SP Badri Singh, who reached the spot, said that prima facie it appears that the incident occurred after a heated argument. The SP said that the exact cause of the incident would be ascertained only after a detailed investigation. Till now it is not clear that who killed whom. Prima facie it appears that Jasbir Singh first killed his seniors then shot himself dead. Further investigation is on in this case.
