A lecturer of English has been arrested from Barog in Solan for possessing drugs, mainly chitta, a synthetically produced drug that includes heroin and more specifically ecstasy, LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide and methaphetamines.
The accused has been identified as 25-year-old Pankaj from Jubbal.
Pankaj teaches at Cheva Senior Secondary School, Barog, Solan.
According to the sources he was carrying chitta, small quantity of opium and cannabis. The police is investigating the matter.
The bordering areas of Himachal Pradesh with Punjab, particularly, Una and Hamirpur and Solan have become a safe haven for drug peddlers.
The drug abuse in the hill state have gone up substantially in the past five years.
