The Hush Post: BJP MLA and former IAS officer Jeet Ram Katwal has been booked for alleged forgery in Himachal Pradesh. An FIR has been registered against the sitting legislator from Jhandhutta in Bilaspur district at the Chhota Shimla police station in Shimla.
Following court orders, a complaint was filed against him on January 4 and a case of forgery has been registered under Section 465, 466 and 469 of the IPC, the police said.
The complainant Pratap Singh Verma had alleged that as an administrative officer, Katwal had tampered with documents in reply to an Right To Information query (RTI).
A retired principal, Verma was appointed in Women and Child Development on outsourcing basis and got extension on the same post in 2016. When Verma had sought information regarding rules for extension on the post through RTI during 2015 and 2016, he alleged that the information given by the department in 2016 was different from the information given in response to earlier RTI.
