The Hush Post: In the latest update in the Nurpur bus accident in Himachal Pradesh, 29 have been confirmed dead including two teachers. The bus driver also lost his life.

The accident happened at about 3:30 pm when the the school bus skidded, overturned and fell into a 300-feet deep gorge in Malakpur of Nurpur in Himachal.

The initial toll of dead was four but soon it rose to 15 and now 29 have been confirmed as having lost lives.

The victims were students of Bazir Ram Singh Pathania School. About 15 children are injured some of them seriously and are undergoing treatment either at Pathankot or at Tanda Hospital.

According to the latest information received, about 45 children were travelling in this bus. The school bus was on its way ferrying these children home. According to Nurpur MLA Rakesh Pathania, out of those injured, six of the seriously injured ones have been referred to a hospital in Pathankot.

All the children travelling in this bus were in the age-group of 5 to 11 years, mostly studying in primary and kindergarten schools.

The accident took place when the driver of the bus lost control over the vehicle and it skidded off the road. Police and rescue teams are carrying out the rescue operations.

Meanwhile, CM of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur has announced compensation of Rs five lakh each to the families of the victims.
