The Hush Post: There is a heavy rain alert in nine districts of Himachal Pradesh. The rain can create havoc in the next 4 hours in nine districts of Shimla, Solan, Bilaspur, Mandi, Kinnaur, Sirmaur, Kullu, Kangra and Hamipur.
As per reports, there is a likelihood of incessant rain for the next three days uptill August 25. A yellow alert has been issued in the state. Yellow alert is a preventive alert, where one might have to re-schedule ones travel plans, stay plans, especially those living at the lying areas may have to shift temporarily.
There was heavy rainfall recently which resulted in 16 deaths in the state on August 13 when a record 208 mm rainfall was received in the state in 24 hours. Most of the damage and destruction happened in Shimla, Solan, Hamirpur, Kullu and Kinnaur last time round on August 13. The alert has been sent out so that people and government respond to the alert on time and no such destruction takes place.
There were many dozens of landslides, big and small throughout the state including on Chakki Mor on the Chandigarh-Solan national highway, at Waknaghat on Shimla-Solan road causing traffic blockades at both places.
