Fire broke out in the engine of the heritage train called the Himalayan Queen tourist train somewhere in Solan, Himachal Pradesh.
Around 200 passengers were in the train in seven different coaches at the time the fire broke out. All were reported to be safe.
The incident took place between Kumarhati and Dharampur in the Solan.
The train involved was numbered 52455, which chugs along the Kalka-Shimla heritage line.
The fire was extinguished by the train staff and it managed to continue to Shimla after the engine was changed.
The “toy train” is dotted with conifers on both sides and this narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla railway in Himachal Pradesh is a UNESCO world heritage site which attracts thousands of tourists every year.
The Kalka-Shimla railway, was completed in 1903. It follows a scenic 96-kilometre route. It has 103 tunnels and travells on a winding track from Kalka to Shimla.
