Forty people were injured, many of them seriously when a private bud fell into a gorge in Jawali in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

The accident took place at Bagdur on 32 Meel-Jawali marg. The bus driver was trying to let another vehicle pass when it fell into a 100 feet deep gorge.

Had the bus not banged into a tree, the accident would have been much more severe. Immediately after the incident, the SMO of the Jawali Civil Hospital, Dr Aman Dubey dispatched a team of doctors to the spot. The local taxi drivers also ferried injured passengers to the hospital, particularly the serious ones. More serious passengers were taken to Tanda Medical College and Hospital.

Former minister Chander Kumar and MLA Arjun Singh also reached the spot.
