Kasauli firing victim’s family refuses govt’s Rs 5-lakh cheque, donates it to CM relief fund instead

The Hush Post: In an act of generosity despite the grief, the family of Assistant Town and Country Planning Officer (ATCP) late Shail Bala Sharma politely refused the Rs 5 lakh- government grant offered to her family by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur who had gone to visit the family on Monday. On the suggestion of the Chief Minister, the family agreed to donate it to the chief minister’s relief fund which in turn would be utilised to help needy people.

The Chief Minister personally visited Shail Bala’s house at Bari in Baldwara village of Mandi district to hand over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to the deceased’s family who politely refused the monetary help. The state government has announced to confer the Himachal Gaurav Puraskar on Shail Bala.

The deceased officer, who lost her life on duty during a demolition drive of illegal constructions in Kasauli, is survived by her husband Ved Prakash who is also a government servant and son Piyush who is a doctor.

In a status report before the apex court, the Himachal Pradesh government has said that the officer Shail Bala did not inform her superiors before entering the hotel premises.
