A man in Chamba of Himachal Pradesh reached home just a day ahead of his marriage after walking a distance of 75 kilometers. Due to heavy snowfall, Vijay Singh was stranded in Pangi tribal area of Chamba district.
Vijay Singh works with the Electricity Board in Pangi sub-division. He covered a distance of 75 kilometers on foot from Killar to Kishtwar. Vijay’s friend Rinku accompanied him on the journey.
From Kishtwar, Vijay took a taxi and reached home on Thursday. It was his Mehandi ceremony on Thursday and the family members were really happy to have him home on time.
Continuous snowfall since the past few weeks had cut off Pangi from the rest of the state. Vijay Singh was unable to reach home owing to blocked roads. His parents had been appealing to him to reach home on time following which he took the decision to cover the distance on foot.
The family members even made an appeal to administration asking to evacuate Vijay. The inclement weather added to the woes as no helicopters could take off.
Vijay Singh is slated to get married on 22 February.
