Tussle between two government departments have resulted in a hand pump cropping up in the middle of a road, endangering the lives of daily commuters.
The Hush Post: It happens only in India. Yes, in our country we daily come across many such unique and bizarre instances which make us wonder why in the first place do such things occur? Well, there is a fresh addition to this never-ending curiosity of ours, this time from Himachal Pradesh.
Tussle between two government departments have resulted in a hand pump cropping up in the middle of a road, endangering the lives of daily commuters. The incident has been reported from Mandi district on the road which joins Mandi and Kullu via Kataula.
The hand pump, which was already in place, was supposed to be removed before the road was constructed by the Public Works Department (PWD). However, the Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) department, which is responsible for installing hand pumps, sought money from the PWD for removing the hand pump. The PWD department chose it not to pay and went ahead with the construction.
The pictures of the hand pump in the middle of the road have gone viral on the social media, earning severe criticism for both the departments.
Meanwhile, the PWD officials are still awaiting the nod of the IPH department so that the hand pump can be removed.
