Veteran politician Sukh Ram and his grandson Ashray Sharma have finally joined Congress. Ashray is also being projected as a candidate from Mandi constituency.

Now Himachal Pradesh cabinet minister Anil Sharma is in a dilemma. He holds a cabinet rank and has apprised the Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur that he is in a fix. However, keen watchers of Himachal politics say that it is a well thought out plan of the family. While publically, Anil Sharma has said that he is not in touch with his father and son regarding the latest political developments, experts say, that the whole family has chalked out a strategy to make the most of the political situation.

There is also a likelihood that in case Ashray gets a ticket from Mandi, Anil Sharma may have to resign from the union cabinet as a face saver for the party. Earlier, it was learnt Ashray sought a ticket to represent Mandi constituency. However, the seat went to Ram Swaroop Sharma.

Former six-time Himachal CM, Virbhadra Singh was being seen as a potential Congress candidate from Mandi. If Ashray throws in his hat as is being believed there will be more chaos for the Congress to sort out than before.

Former union telecom minister Sukh Ram is 91 years old.
