Some miscreants opened fire upon the Delhi-Manali HRTC Volvo bus on the Express Highway near Panipat Wednesday night. 11 passengers, besides the bus driver and conductor were aboard the bus during the time of the incident. Luckily, no one was hurt.
The Volvo bus had left from Delhi to Manali at 9:50 pm on Wednesday. As the bus reached Panipat Bus Stand flyover around 12:00 am, a white-coloured Bolero overtook the bus. Suddenly, the driver heard two gun shots being fired- one on his entry door and the other on the windscreen of the bus.
Hearing the gun shots, driver Jitendra Singh slowed down the bus. As he peeped out he saw the driver of the Bolero wielding a gun in his hand. He tried to take down the registration number of the Bolero, but it sped away from the spot.
Jitendra then dialed 100 and informed the police. Panipat police have registered a case. It also recovered two empty bullet shells from the bus. The 11 eleven passengers were shifted to another bus towards Manali while the Volvo was sent back to Delhi.
