Mohali man dies in paragliding accident in Manali

A 24-year-old tourist from Mohali was killed and a paragliding pilot was injured during paragliding at Solang Valley in Manali on Saturday.

The deceased Amandeep Singh Sobti, who lived in Phase II, Mohali, died after the pilot lost control of the paraglider. Paragliding pilot Ranvir Singh, from Barua village, was injured in the incident.

“Amandeep, along with friend Sristhi Sindhi, was visiting Solang Nullah in Kullu district. Amandeep and Ranvir were taken to Mission Hospital where Amandeep succumbed to his injuries. Ranvir is receiving treatment,” Kullu SP Shalini Agnihotri said.

The pilot was admitted to a hospital in Manali and was undergoing treatment.

The police have registered a case. Amandeep’s body will be handed over to his family after an autopsy is done, police said.
