The Hush Post: UPA chief Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s house at Chharabra in Shimla is ready. According to a news report, the ‘griha pravesh’ is likely to be held around Diwali. She reached Chharabra on Wednesday along with the architect to oversee the construction work.
Priyanka’s house is close to the President’s summer sojourn ‘The Retreat’. The three-and-a-half bigha agricultural plot is located at a height of more than 8,000 feet, 14 km from Shimla. Priyanka has reportedly got massive changes to the building incorporated thrice, due to her dissatisfaction with the structure.
The house was purchased from US-based Satish Kumar Sood and Satinder Sood in 2007. It was a two-storey five-room cottage which was pulled down as Priyanka wanted the house to have a feel of hill architecture.
Since Priyanka bought the land, it has been mired in controversies owing to its proximity to The Retreat. Also, an RTI activist Dev Ashish Bhattacharya had filed a petition in the Himachal Pradesh High Court. He had sought details of the property and permissions granted by the state government under Section 118 of HP Tenancy and Land Reforms Act.
