5 dead, 5 missing in Himachal, dozens of landslides across the state….Shimla, Solan, Bijaspur, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Kangra most affected

The Hush Post: Rains have caused havoc in the north, mostly in Himachal Pradesh. Shimla, Solan, Kullu, Mani, Kangra, Bilaspur and Hamirpur saw maximum damage and casualties. Several landslides took place in the state and five deaths have taken place while five persons are reportedly missing.

Shimla: There has been landslide in many places in Shimla. In Dhalli, two vehicles were buried due to landslide. Between IGMC and Lakkar Bazar also traffic was halted for some time due to minor landslide. Shimla bypass also saw a landslide as a result of which there was traffic jam.

Apart from it, in Vikasnagar, Shimla there has been a landslide.

In Rampur Bushahr traffic has come to a halt and about 40 vehicles, mostly buses are stuck at various locations.

In Solan, in Kaushalya Khud a student drowned while at Chakki Mor traffic came to a standstill.

At Sadhupul, the newly constructed bridge collapsed while in Kasol near Manikaran there has been heavy flooding. Paagal nala in Sainj has been overflowing. In Gohda Chaakal village due to the fall of debris one person died and 5 have gone missing.

Similarly, in Jwala mukhi two people have died.

In Bilaspur, one person died in Dagdaan.
Chandigarh-Dharamsala Highway saw traffic coming to a standstill. At Changauli near Kalruhi, traffic came to a standstill as the recently constructed bridge caved in.

Nahan Shimla highway is closed. There is heavy traffic near Sadhna ghat and long queues of vehicles stranded. Trffic has also come to a standstill in Ani.

The road to Sri Naina Devi temple has also seen landslide at one place and the traffic movement is slow.

In Hamirpur due to heavy rain and landslide debris fell on a house and two died – a woman and her grand-daughter who were asleep.

In Haryana, there has been overflow of water in Hathnikund barrage. Water supply to the Yamuna feeders, have been temporarily stopped.

In Panchkula, part of the Nada sahib bridge has washed away.
