Seven killed, 25 injured as bus falls into khud in Chaila, Shimla


The Hush Post: Seven people were killed and 25 critically injured after a bus ferrying 33 passengers rolled down into a khud near Chaila 40 kms from Shimla town.

The bus was on its way to Tikkar from Shimla.

All the seven persons, including two women, died on the spot. For some time the accident went unnoticed till a car driver who first saw the bus reported the matter to Theog police station.

The accident occurred near Gajerhi, five kilometres from Chaila, on the Theog-Hatkoti national highway.

The injured were immediately brought to Civil Hospital, Theog while those who sustained critical injuries have been brought to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla, for emergency treatment.

Condition of two injured is said to be serious. Police reached the spot and is supervising the rescue operation.

“So far, exact cause of the accident is not known,” superintendent of police Omapati Jamwal said, adding that the number of causalities could go up.

The deceased have not been identified yet.
