Despite a sunny Monday, inclement weather conditions will continue to prevail in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday and days to come. The Met department has predicted snowfall and rain in certain parts of the state on January 8. On Wednesday, the skies will be clear and the locals can experience sunshine.
However, the weatherman has predicted heavy snowfall and rains again in most parts of the state from January 10 to 13. Dr. Manmohan Singh, Director, Meteorological Department Shimla stated that the Western Disturbance will be active from Thursday leading to heavy snowfall.
It continued to snow in the higher reaches of the state Sunday evening. It snowed 180 cms at Rohtang Pass and 45 cms at the Jalori Pass.
Meanwhile, snowfall during the last few days has led to a severe dip in mercury across the state. The maximum temperatures also dropped a few degrees.
On Monday, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 9.8 degree Celsius, Dharmsala 9.2 degrees, Dalhousie 3.7 degrees, Kalpa 3.6 degrees and Keylong 1.0 degrees.
Keylong was the coldest in the state at minus 12.0 degrees, Kalpa at minus 8.6 degrees, Kufri at minus 4.5 degrees, Manali at minus 3.6 degrees, Shimla at minus 0.7 degrees and Solan at zero degrees Centigrade.
