Former chairman of Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Major General CM Sharma (retd) committed suicide. He shot himself dead at his residence in Jakhoo area of Shimla late night on Thursday.
He was suffering from acute depression. He used to sleep along in another room and was found dead on Friday morning by his wife when she opened the room.
As per the suicide note found by the police, the deceased attributed his action to his ill-health, DSP Pramod Shukla said.
A case has been registered and police are on the spot.
He was the chairperson of HPPSC from 2009 to 2013. He is survived by two sons and wife.
He was born in June 1951 at Shimla. He studied at DAV School, Shimla and did his BSc agriculture from Himachal Agriculture college Solan.
Later, he joined army and joined commissioned in the artillery regiment in 1972. He was also an instructor in prestigious institions like Army War College and School of Artillery. He was an expert in information warfare and disaster management.
