International Summer Festival stands cancelled due to biggest ever water crisis in Shimla

Holding the event during this critical situation won’t be feasible keeping in mind the” humanitarian aspect”, said a district administration spokesperson.

The Hush Post: Amidst the heightened water crisis in Shimla, another shocker has come for the people of the city. The International Shimla Summer Festival, scheduled to begin from June 1, has been cancelled.

According to a district administration spokesperson, the decision was taken in wake of the ongoing water crisis in the capital. Holding the event during this critical situation won’t be feasible keeping in mind the” humanitarian aspect”, he said. The annual event, which was to go on till June 5, will now be rescheduled.

Earlier, auditions were held for performing during the festival from May 24 to May 27 and around 500 applications were received for the same.

It is to be noted that Shimla is facing an acute water shortage for the past 7-8 days forcing the people to come on to the roads and protest against the government. The government, in the meanwhile, has constituted a high-level committee to address the situation however no relief seems to be in sight so far.
