Ram Nath Kovind

Respected President

I would like to congratulate you for the work you have done and your contribution in the progress of the country. But this isn’t the reason I am writing to you.

You are the first citizen of the country and thus would have certain privileges. Those privileges are yours for sure but when such privileges are exercised as part of protocol, the cost of it is borne by the people who live here, especially at the cost of the school going children like me. Today was one such day.

I came to know that you will be criss-crossing the town using public roads.

You see, it creates problems for the common people as traffic comes to a halt during VVIP movement. An ill-person who has to reach the hospital may get delayed as he will not have the privilege of a VIP, like being flown in a chopper from Kalyani helipad to Annadale, a privilege, which makes life easier for VVIPs even though it may not be used.

Also the timing of your coming and going during school hours is an impediment. Though, the Deputy Commissioner has ordered all the schools to change the dispersal of children from school at about 12.30 pm or 1.30 pm. It is a problem for many working parents to pick up their wards at an odd hour more so, if they do not have a car leave alone a convoy.

Although, school buses and school taxis are plying, many children live so far from school that they have to change buses to get to the school and back home.

In the end, I would like to say that I hope you understand our problems and could take some measures which are not in our hands, or in the hands of district administration but are certainly in your hands.

Yours sincerely

Azad

A school student
