The Hush Post: In the wake of very heavy downpour across Himachal Pradesh, all schools, both government and private, in Shimla, Mandi, Solan, Kangra, Hamirpur districts will remain closed today. Some teachers and students did manage to reach the schools but are being asked to go back home safely.
Owing to heavy rains in the region last week too, all schools in Kangra district had been closed till August 10 on orders from the Deputy Director School Education, Kangra.
It has been raining heavily in the entire state, at some places since Sunday afternoon and at some places since Sunday night.
There have been landslides on chakki mor on the Chandigarh-Solan national highway and at Waknaghat on Shimla-solan road causing traffic blockades at both places. People are advised not to venture out of their homes in this incessant rainfall.
All rivers in the state are in full spate.
The IMD had already forecast heavy downpour in North India for this week.
Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are overcast with clouds, with rain expected any time during the day.
