Shimla witnessed the season’s first snowfall on Wednesday morning. The Mall Road, Jakhoo, Sanjauli, Cart Road and other parts of the town were covered with a thin blanket of snow. Tourists have already started thronging to the hill station. The snowfall is still on. Vehicular traffic as of now is plying on roads.
The surrounding areas of Kufri, Khara Pathar, Narkanda had about 4-inches of snow. The early morning saw sleeting in the capital city. About 1-2 cm of snow has been reported from Theog while in Kufri there was four inches of snow as also in Khara Pathar.
In Manali, it has already started snowing in the higher mountains. The Mall Road in Manali is yet to witness snowfall. According to hotel industry insiders, hotle bookings are almost full after Dec 15. The tourist season will actually catch up after Dec 15. For now, the hotels are gearing up to enthrall tourists for Christmas and New Year’s eve.
