The Hush Post: Former cricketer and Pakistan Tehrek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has courted another controversy in Pakistan after some pictures depicting him as Lord Shiva have gone viral on social media. The picture has drawn protests not only from the minority Hindus in the Muslim majority nation but the Pakistan Parliament also witnessed uproar over the issue.
According to a report published in the BBC, Pakistan’s National Assembly has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to probe into the matter. The issue was raised in the Parliament on Wednesday by the opposition Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member, Ramesh Lal accusing the incumbent Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) activists of posting Imran Khan’s picture. Ramesh Lal alleged that the PML-N had hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus, adding it was against the Constitution. Subsequently, National Assembly Speaker directed Interior Minister Talal Chowdhary to submit a report at the earliest.
It is reported that the picture was posted by a PML-N supporter on April 8. The Hindu community in Pakistan has condemned this act.
