Pallika Bazar, Lajpat Nagar and Jama Masjid were the targets of two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists who have been arrested by Delhi Police. The two alleged terrorists were arrested on Thursday. Apart from it, they were also planning to target a gas pipeline in East Delhi, reports revealed.
During questioning, the two men accepted that they carried out a recce of these places.
“Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested two terrorists in the last two days. During questioning, it was revealed that the terrorists planned to target Lajpat Nagar and a gas pipeline in East Delhi, they had conducted a recce of the two areas,” sources were quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
The two JeM men, arrested on charges of planning to carry out terror strikes in the national capital, have been identified as 29-year-old Abdul Latif Ganaie, alias Umair alias Dilawar, and 26-year-old Hilal Ahmad Bhat residents of Jammu and Kashmir’s Wakura and Batapora areas, respectively.
The cops arrested Dilawar on the intervening night of January 20-21 after a tip-off from military intelligence. It revealed about frequent visits by suspicious persons to a house in Laxmi Nagar.
Subsequently, the police laid a trap to nab him.
He was arrested near Rajghat with incriminating material. He was arrested carrying a .32 bore pistol, 26 live cartridges, three rubber stamps of JeM commanders.
