The Hush Post: In a major success for the security forces, a top terrorist of the Hizbul Mujahideen and another terrorist were killed in an encounter with armed forces in the Anantnag district in Jammu & Kashmir on Wednesday.
The killed terrorists had been placed in the A++ category, a report said.
One of the killed terrorists Altaf Dar alias Kachroo was a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander and was reportedly involved in many attacks on the armed forces and killings of the cops and civilians in the area. Altaf Dar reportedly had a long history of criminal activities since 2007. The second terrorist killed in the encounter has been identified as Omar Rashid Wani, who was involved in the killing of a policeman in Anantnag. The killed terrorists hailed from South Kashmir’s Kulgam. One AK-47 and an INSAS rifle were seized from the killed terrorists, the report said.
“It was a specific operation and in a swift action both the terrorists involved in several cases of civilian atrocities and attacks on policemen were eliminated,” SP Pani, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Range, was quoted as saying in the report.
The two terrorists were held up inside a house and were eliminated in the exchange of fire, it was reported.
The armed forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Muniward village at the district, about 60 km from Srinagar, on getting tip-off about the presence of terrorists there. An encounter followed when the terrorists opened fire on the forces, it was reported.
Meanwhile, the mobile internet and train services have been stopped in the region.
