A picture of former Jammu & Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah has surfaced in which he is barely recognizable. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday shared the photograph saying she couldn’t recognize Omar in the picture.
“I could not recognise Omar in this picture. Am feeling sad,” Mamta Banerjee tweeted. “Unfortunate that this is happening in our democratic country. When will this end?” she added.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has been under detention since the BJP-led central government revoked Jammu and Kashmir’s special status in August last year.
Abudllah can be seen sporting a bearded look in the picture. He can be seen smiling. It’s not clear when the photo was taken
The Union government had put Omar, his father Farooq Abdullah and another former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti under house arrest after it revoked the Article 370. Besides, Centre detained hundreds of political leaders, social activists, lawyers and businessmen.
The Centre detained Abdullah, Mufti and other politicians under Section 107 of Code the of Criminal Procedure.
Farooq Abdullah is the only mainstream politician against whom the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) was slapped on September 17 for a period of three months. The Centre renewed the PSA against him December 16 last year.
