DSP Aman Thakur killed in J&K encounter

A Deputy Superintendent of J&K Police was killed in an ongoing gunfight in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday. 3 Army personnel are injured.
The gunfight erupted when forces were carrying out a search-and-cordon operation after an input about the presence of militants at Tudigam, Kulgam.
“As the searches were being carried, militants opened indiscriminate fire wounding a DSP and two other security men. The DSP identified as Aman Thakur later succumbed to his injuries,” a police official said.
The exchange of gunfire is still underway. Security forces believe two to three militants are present at the encounter site .

Thakur was a 2011 batch KPS Officer & had been heading counter terrorism wing of J&K police in Kulgam for the past one and a half year.
Four days after the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed, three top commanders of the Jaish-e-Mohammad were killed in a fierce gunbattle in Pinglana village of Pulwama. Major Dhoundiyal along with five other soldiers lost their lives in the encounter.
Two days ago, 2 terrorists were killed in warsaw area  in sopore of baramullah district.
