Yet another encounter has broken out between militants and security forces at Sopore in Barmullah district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Two-three terrorists are expected to be hiding in the area. Baramullah has been the hotbed of stone throwers and separatists. However, Section 144 has been applied so that people are not able to gather. Internet services have been suspended for the time being.

Acting on specific input, the security personnel launched a cordon and search operation in the Warpora area of Sopore on Friday morning, police said.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired at the search party of securitymen, who then returned fire.
The exchange of fire was on. Further details were awaited.

This is the second encounter this week after the one in Pulwama, apart from the dastardly act on CRPF convoy that killed 40 jawans last week. The Pulwama encounter witnessed the martyrdom of Major Dhoundiyal, apart from three other soldiers.
